Start with the concept, not the location
Before you think about where, think about how you want to feel when you see the photos. Three questions help:
- What words describe your style? (Glam, laid-back, bold, romantic?)
- Which colors show up most in your closet or your room?
- Is there something you love that you want in the shots? Music, sports, art, fashion.

1. Studio glam
Clean backdrop, controlled light, a sparkly dress and red-carpet makeup. It's the most "editorial" concept and the one that works best for portraits you'll want to print large. In a photo studio you don't depend on weather or heat, and you can change looks several times.

Don't: too many things at once. Pick two or three per look. When everything competes, nothing stands out.
Hair and makeup that feel like you
At 16, the goal is makeup that makes you look like the best version of yourself, not someone else. Bring reference photos and tell your artist which features you want to highlight. Studio, outdoors, or both
