How We Organize Your Underwater Session

Choose Kova Mermaid in the quote builder and tell us the occasion, the age of the person posing and how comfortable they are in the water.

2 · We design the session
We choose the concept, looks and pool, and send your quote with the pool rental listed separately.

3 · Forms and consent
You sign the session terms and liability waiver. For minors, a parent or guardian signs; for maternity, you send us your doctor's OK.

4 · Your day
Hair and makeup, a safety briefing, a practice run in the shallow end and short takes with breaks, with the lifeguard or safety diver always beside you.

Requirements
- Know how to swim and feel comfortable underwater, eyes open and holding your breath for a few seconds
- Minimum age: to be confirmed
- Minors: signed consent and a parent or guardian present at the pool
- Maternity: your doctor's written OK before booking

What to wear
Fabrics That Float, Looks That Shine
Gowns
- Light fabrics like gauze, tulle or chiffon float beautifully; heavy fabrics sink
- No heavy beading, hoop skirts, rigid corsets or very long trains: they get very heavy when wet
- Rich or pastel colors look stunning against the blue water
- We feature your traditional quince gown out of the water, in the studio or at a location
Mermaid tails
- You put on and take off the tail in the shallow end, always with help
- With the tail on, the lifeguard or safety diver is within reach at all times
- If you don't feel confident, the mermaid look can also be done seated on the pool edge
Safety first
Calm, Control and Someone Always by Your Side
An underwater photo is only beautiful if everyone leaves the pool smiling. These rules apply to every session, no exceptions.
- Only in a private, controlled pool; never in the ocean, a lake or open water for minors
- A certified lifeguard or safety diver present and focused on safety the entire time anyone is in the water
- Only for people who know how to swim and feel comfortable underwater
- Short takes of a few seconds, with breaks at the surface; never extended breath-holding exercises
- You set the pace: if you feel tired, cold or uncomfortable, we stop
- No one uses weights, scuba gear or tries exercises they don't know
- Minors: consent from a parent or guardian, who is present at the pool
- Maternity: only with your doctor's OK, in the shallow end and with even shorter takes
- With lightning nearby, we get out of the water and reschedule if needed
