One man's work, built stone by stone
Coral Castle was built by one man, Edward Leedskalnin, over nearly three decades, using blocks of local oolite limestone. Today it's a nationally recognized historic site and a backdrop unlike anything else in Miami.

The best light at Coral Castle
It's an open space with little shade, and the pale stone bounces a lot of sun. We aim for low late-afternoon light, when the wall texture looks richest; the exact time depends on what the venue approves.
- Late afternoon: golden side light that brings out the stone's relief.
- Midday: we avoid it; direct sun hardens shadows and heats the stone.
- Season: November to April is cooler and drier; from May to October we plan with water, breaks and around afternoon showers.
What to wear at Coral Castle
The stone is beige and gray; saturated or very light colors pop against it. Think fairy tale, but practical for uneven ground.
- Gowns in red, emerald, royal blue, hot pink or white.
- Skip sand and beige tones: they blend into the stone.
